Learn the Benefits of a Scanpan

    views

Non-stick pans have been very helpful in cooking any food: it may be sunny-side-up eggs, fried chicken, fish fillet, pancakes, you name it, without having your food sticking on the bottom part of your pan. This kitchen essential may be a bit expensive, yet some are not that durable and wouldn’t last long. So if you are looking for a high-quality non-stick pan that will last a long time, the Scanpan cookware might solve your problem.

Scanpan is a well-known cookware brand recognized as among the best on the market. This cookware brand was originally made in Denmark, hence the name, which is a shortened form of the name “Scandanavian Pan,” concerning the Scandinavian and Danish roots of the brand.

Scanpan cookware is formed by pressure-casting aluminum and made with high-quality materials, such as five layers of non-stick coating. Because of these, Scanpan has durable and long-lasting non-stick pans that aid in creating high-quality food.

Before buying Scanpan cookware, you must first learn the benefits of a Scanpan. Read on to see the advantages of using a Scanpan, so you can decide whether or not this brand is for you.

Scanpans Are Not Easily Bent or Warped

Scanpan has a timeless design that fits any kitchen style you have at home. The center part of its exterior is made of recycled aluminum – melted, poured hot into molds, and pressure-casted. Unlike other non-stick pans made with stamped aluminum, Scanpans aren’t easily bent or warped when exposed to extreme temperatures or under pressure.

Since Scanpan undergoes a pressure casting process, the cookwares become more sturdy and durable and can handle any food – whether it‘s an acidic or alkaline food. The pressure casting process also gives Scanpan greater heat retention and better heat distribution ability.

Scanpans Can Last for A Really Long Time

Scanpan cookware undergoes a lot of processes, leaving consumers with high-quality products. High-quality products would also mean greater sustainability and longevity. According to Scanpan, their products are checked eight times before being sold. So when well taken care of, these pans could last a lifetime.

Aside from this, Scanpan also provides a limited lifetime warranty against the manufacturer’s damages and defects on its cookware. If you receive a Scanpan that has either surface bubbling, peeling, or pitting, these defects are covered by the warranty. However, when the damages are because of propellant sprays, residue buildup, or dropping of the cookware, then these will not be covered by Scanpan’s lifetime warranty.

    Scanpans Are Oven-Safe

It might be weird to put your pan inside your oven, but Scanpans are oven-safe. Scanpan pans, including their handles and lids, can stand heat up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. The material of the Scanpan’s handle is made to remain cool when you’re cooking on cooktops and also made to be oven-safe. The materials used on the lids are also oven-safe glass.

The lid has a knob-style handle which is helpful when the surface is hot or whenever you put your pan inside the oven. The knob-style handle lets you grip your pan firmly, even when using big mittens or a silicone glove.

Using Scanpan Reduces Your Energy Consumption

Because of its material, Scanpan cookware can heat up easily, so you won’t need that much heat to cook your food. Since you are using lesser heat, it will also lessen your energy consumption. Reducing your energy consumption is one way of minimizing your carbon footprint, which helps in mitigating the harmful effects of global warming.

Scanpan Allows You To Use Metal Utensils When Cooking

It’s common knowledge that metal utensils damage non-stick pans as they can scratch the coating of your pan. However, it’s different with Scanpan. It is alright to use metal utensils when cooking on your Scanpan cookware because the materials used in the cookware produce a scratch-resistant surface that’s ten times harder than your ordinary non-stick pans.

Scanpan cookware has a titanium ceramic surface, making it possible for the non-stick pans to handle metal utensils well. The extremely hard and durable surface protects your Scanpan from chips or scratches from the metal utensils you use.

Remember that scuff marks may still appear on your Scanpan over time, especially when using the pan for many years. However, it will not damage the surface of your pan and will not affect the performance of your non-stick Scanpan.

Scanpan Provides High-Quality Products While Promoting Sustainability

Scanpan produces non-stick pans from recycled aluminum, such as recycled beer and soda cans. These cans are processed as high-quality materials that could meet the brand’s standards. Since Scanpan uses recycled materials, it saves a huge amount of energy and waste during the production process of its cookware.

Scanpan sustainably produces high-quality pans because they use recycled aluminum. In comparison, extracting 2.2 pounds of aluminum from the Earth produces about 200 pounds of waste. However, using the same amount of recycled aluminum would only create about 7.5 pounds of waste. With Scanpans, you can get cookware of excellent quality without causing too much damage to the Earth.

Scanpans Are Free from Harmful Chemicals

Scanpan was the first-ever brand to create environmentally friendly cookware on the market. Scanpan cookware is free from the two chemicals, perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), which are potentially harmful to one’s health. By using Scanpan, you are ensured of a safe food preparation process while reducing the risk of harming the environment.

However, despite being PFOS and PFOA-free, Scanpans contain some Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). The PTFE provides a non-stick finish to the cookware, which is why you cannot entirely do away with this chemical. On a brighter note, PTFE is FDA-approved and safe to ingest. PTFE is also an inert waste, meaning it is biologically and chemically unreactive with the environment and food, water, and different cleaning products.

Despite being FDA-approved, you still want to follow safe food preparation and provide extra care to your Scanpan. When your non-stick pan is exposed to too much heat, the chemical compounds on the surface start to break down. So it’s important to use your Scanpan properly and not overheat your non-stick pan to ensure that it’s safe to use.

The downside of buying Scanpan is its price. Since Scanpan cookware is made in Denmark, it follows strict manufacturing standards while providing buyers with high-quality non-stick pans. Unlike other non-stick cookware brands, Scanpan may be a little bit costly since it’s made to last for a lifetime. However, note that, like other cookware, Scanpan is meant to deteriorate over time.
