The time I got to name a nail polish color

The title says it all- I officially named a nail polish color.

Here’s how it started:

I was on Facebook last week when I saw Gelish MINI (the brand I already use & love for my gel nail tutorials) had posted a contest. They showed a little swatch of blue glitter polish and asked their fans to come up with a fun name for it, and the winner would get a Gelish MINI complete pro kit (including the LED lamp). They said you could submit up to three names, so so I threw out a couple as quickly as I could just hoping to get my name in there before too many others did. I’ve always loved the cute, quirky names brands come up with for nail polish colors, but I’m not creative or unique when it comes to stuff like that so I didn’t think much of it.

A week goes by and I pretty much forgot about it.
Then on Wednesday I was sitting at my laptop, drinking an iced mocha, chatting with my husband on his day off. We were just playing around online showing each other funny internet videos and weird crap we’d seen online during the week, when all of a sudden this popped up in my Facebook news feed:

I stood up and my chair fell backwards and I yelled “What?! I won! Oh my gosh!”
I turned to my husband, who looked confused.
Then he leaned over, read the screen, and high-fived me.

I won!

I couldn’t remember what I had won, really, but I was excited nonetheless.

Within about 5 minutes I had this message in my inbox:
I’ve never won anything like this before in my life.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve won my fair share of blog giveaways and whatnot. Yep, I’ve certainly been lucky there. But those are random winners drawn out of a pool of entries. This is something I actually did and was chosen to win, which is so cool to me! It’s crazy to think that the Gelish people were sitting in a meeting room discussing polish names and mine was their favorite.
So, now I get a whole new Gelish MINI Complete Pro Kit, including the LED lamp. I’ve been wanting to make the switch from my UV lamp to an LED for a while now, and I’m so glad I don’t have to shell out the money myself. LED cures way faster and doesn’t have the harmful UV rays (I always apply sunscreen before  doing my nails- a step I can happily skip now). Plus my basecoat and topcoat were just about in need of being replenished too, so I can save myself a trip back to the beauty supply for awhile. I’m curious to see what 2 new Gelish colors I’ll be receiving from the kit too. I need new gel colors, as I only have about 5 or 6 right now in my collection.

Can’t wait to get my hands on my new Gelish kit!

Expect a review and more gel nail tutorials to come.

Big thanks to the Gelish MINI people for this contest!
