Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure #CSMTKO

Last week, a little box showed up at my doorstep.
It was a Vox Box from Influenster, and it contained one of my favorite things- nail polish!
This isn’t just any nail polish either. This is Sally Hansen’s Complete Salon Manicure, and I was pretty intrigued by it. Complete Salon Manicure nail polish has 7 benefits of a salon manicure in 1 bottle:
  • Base coat
  • Strengthener
  • Growth treatment
  • Color
  • Top coat
  • Chip-resistant
  • Gel shine
Here’s what else Sally Hansen says about their Complete Salon Manicure:

Skip the salon, get the results. Don’t settle for just color when you can get a base coat, strengthener, growth treatment, salon-inspired color, top coat, chip-resistance and a gel finish all in 1 bottle. Featuring the unique precision brush for a flawless finish and patented Vita Care technology for advanced 10 day wear, more shine and nourishing care.

I had to give it a try right away, so I soaked off my gels and got to swatching the polish. From left to right is Jaded, Pat on the Black, and Red My Lips.

My first impression of the nail polish was that I loved the brush. It’s a nice thick, rounded brush that allows you to get right up to the cuticle area and gives great coverage with minimal strokes. My problem, however, was that I’m used to gels and I’m used to having more “play” time with the product before it dries or cures, so the first few attempts were a little clumpy and streaky for me. Apparently I had forgotten how to apply regular nail polish, so I had to start over a few times. With the purple and red color I was able to do just 2 coats and get the coverage I needed, while the Jaded color was very opaque and required at least 3 coats. I loved how shiny it was!

I decided to wear Pat on the Black and see how it held up.
After 5 or 6 days this is what it looked like:

My Complete Salon Manicure definitely did not last 10 days as described on their website. I had some wear on the free edges and I’m not sure what happened to my pointer finger, but a lot of it chipped off. They did stay pretty shiny, but not nearly as shiny as gels. I didn’t break any nails so the strengthener definitely helped them hold up. I also noticed that I didn’t have any staining or discoloration after I took the polish off, so I’d say that the built in base coat did it’s job. I felt like I still wanted to put a top coat over them even though it has one built in, but that may just be force of habit for me.

Overall, I’d give this product 4 out of 5 stars. It’s definitely a winner when compared to other nail polishes. But when compared to a gel (which they kind of do compare it to gels with the shine factor, the chip resistance, and the 10 day wear thing) it doesn’t hold a candle to it. I don’t think any nail polish is going to last as long as a gel. But if you’re looking for a one step, fast drying, all-in-one-bottle nail polish that is long wearing and has it all, this might be the product for you.

Sally Hansen’s Complete Salon Manicure comes in 50 shades, so I can’t wait to try some more colors!

I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes. All opinions are my own.
