Rain, rain, go away…

I’ve been grouchy all week, which is why I haven’t blogged much. I can’t stand this dang rainy, drizzly weather we have here in the greater Seattle area. It sucks. A LOT. It’s really affecting my mood. You know how you feel on a rainy day with nothing to do? That is my life every.single.day. I swear, for the last month it’s been 50 degrees and rainy. Ahhhhhhhh!!!! I miss the sunshine! I miss being able to take my kids outside every day & let them run their little hearts out. Now we are lucky if we get outside one day a week. I definitely need to come up with more ideas for activities inside. Input would be helpful! Especially if the idea doesn’t involve making a huge mess 🙂
Another thing that sucks about this week is that I worked on a project that I can’t even show you guys yet. Lame, right? It’s a top secret surprise for someone very near & dear to my heart & I don’t want this person (or people) to see anything about it on Facebook or my blog. I forgot to take pictures of all the steps I did (I know! I suck) because I was thinking that I couldn’t blog about it so I didn’t need pictures. Looking back, I realize how stupid that was because I could have totally taken pictures & just posted them later. I will however take a ton of pictures of the finished product and I’m excited to show them to everyone! I’m especially proud of this project because I totally improvised the whole thing & used mostly scrap fabric that I already had, which kept the cost down a lot & used up a lot of leftover stuff that was just taking up room in my fabric stash.
So besides my top secret sewing I did this week I also read a lot. I finished 4 books!Yeah, that rain sure kept me busy inside! Here’s what I read:
City of Glass by Cassandra Clare (Mortal Instruments book #3).
I loved this book. I had read the first two in this series and I got bored halfway through book 2. It took a little bit of effort to actually get back into the series but once I got a few chapters in on City of Glass I was hooked & couldn’t put it down!
Immediately afterwards I read City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare (Mortal Instruments #4).
LOVE LOVE LOVED this book. I sped through this one in like 24 hours. I cannot wait for the next one, City of Lost Souls, to come out in 2 days!!!! (May 8, 2012).
Then I read Bloodlines by Richelle Mead.
If you haven’t read the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead then you need to! I was surprised at how much I liked them. Bloodlines is a spin off of VA and I didn’t think I would like it very much. I was wrong. I couldn’t get enough of it and was surprised at how good it was. It included a few characters from VA and book #2, The Golden Lily, comes out June 12, 2012 (my birthday!) I’m so excited for this release because one of my favorite characters from VA is going to be in it…Dimitri!!! Now go read Vampire Academy so you know what I’m talking about.
Lastly, I started a new series. The first book is called Dark Lover by JR Ward (Black Dagger Brotherhood #1).
This one is a little different than your average vampire book. It’s very sexual. I was actually a little shocked by it & I tried to speed through the steamy sex scenes because I found myself blushing when I read them. (and I didn’t want my husband to peak over my shoulder and make fun of me for reading it!) That aside, I loved the book. It’s different & not really your typical Twilight love triangle thing. There are like 8 books or something in this series so I’m interested to see where the next one goes.
Next on my list of books to read are 2 prequel books to the Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. The prequel series is called Infernal Devices and I already started on book #1. Here they are:
I’m hoping that we get a little sunshine today so I can dig into Clockwork Angel and let the kids run around at the park for a while!
