My Review: The Avengers Battle For Earth for Kinect

Thank you to Ubisoft for sponsoring this post. Please click here to learn more about Ubisoft. I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective. #UbiChamps

I had the opportunity to review this game from Ubisoft, and of course I jumped at it! I have an 8 year old boy who loves all things super heroes and also happens to be very big into video games. Plus, I have a 4 1/2 year old little girl who worships the ground he walks on & can totally hang with the super hero thing.

Our whole family had so much fun playing this on our XBOX 360 Kinect. Everything is motion based so you don’t use a controller at all. Even the kids had it figured out pretty quickly, so it made navigating the on screen menus super quick and easy. The different playing modes vary from practice mode, single player, arcade, co-op, and tournament. There are over 20 characters that you can choose from. Some of our favorites were The Hulk (my son’s fav), Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Venom, and Wolverine. We took turns playing against each other, playing together against the computer, and playing by ourselves just learning the different combination moves and bonuses.

My favorite part of the game is how it shows you tips on different moves for you to do in the bottom right hand corner. So even someone like me, who is what some might call a “button masher” can even figure out how to play this & not get your butt kicked by a bunch of kids. Even when I’d panic as my son laughed & blasted me with “HULK Smash!” I still pulled out a few sweet combos just by following the little on screen instructions. It’s also pretty cool because after a while you just memorize the movements and do some really cool stuff! Every character has their own special move that you can do when your power is up high enough. Figuring them out is fun too. Also, the graphics are pretty dang good. We were all really pumped when we saw the intro video at the beginning of the game. You have to see it!

{photo bombed!}

This game is rated T for teen, however, I didn’t really see anything in the game that I found disturbing for either of my kids. It’s nothing that they haven’t seen in any one of these movies or shows that they’ve already watched & are huge fans of. So in my opinion, if they are old enough to be a Marvel fan, they are old enough to play the game! But of course, it’s up to each individual parent to make that decision for their kids.

This is definitely one of our favorite games right now. All week my son raced home to do his homework and play the game. It’s even a great little workout, because they sure do work up a sweat jumping around kicking and punching! My son usually ends up with his shirt off by the time he’s finished. Great for those cold, wet, indoor days with the kids! You can find this game at pretty much any store where video games are sold {like Toys R Us} and you can also get it online on Amazon.

Thank you Ubisoft for the opportunity to review the game! I have 2 very happy Marvel fans over here 🙂
