Bout of Books 9.0- a readathon

I decided the best way to start 2014 would be with a read-a-thon. The holidays have been crazy, the kids will be back in school, and I’ve got morning sickness to the extreme…so I’d love nothing more than to just sit and read my little heart out!
This will be my 4th time participating in Bout of Books.
So what exactly IS Bout of Books? Why, I’m glad you asked:
The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, January 6th and runs through Sunday, January 12th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 9.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team

Now, let’s talk goals. You have to have goals for a read-a-thon!

Goals for Bout of Books

  • Read at least 100 pages each day.
  • Finish 3 books.
  • Participate in 2 Twitter chats.
  • Compete in at least 1 challenge.
  • Comment on other blogs.

Books I’ll be reading:

The 3rd book will be determined later, probably depending on my mood after these two. Maybe I’ll read one of the sequels. I’ve had these books on my to-read list for some time now, and I’ve heard great things about them, so I’m excited to finally read them and cross them off my list!

Speaking of goals, I totally failed on my 2013 Goodreads goal. Bummer!

I’m going to set my goal a little lower this year. I think 25 is a good place to start, because once August hits I probably won’t have much time to read. I’ll have a new baby! I’ll be too busy to read after that, so I better get most of mine done during the first half of the year.

So are YOU thinking about signing up for Bout of Books? If you love to read, you really should sign up. It’s a really fun way to get some reading in, “meet” some fun people, and even participate in some challenges and giveaways and maybe win a cool prize. I especially love the Twitter chats because I love interacting with all of my fellow book lovers and learning about new books. Seriously, join in! It’s a ton of fun.
As always, thank you to my bloggy BFF Sarah for introducing me to Bout of Books!
