Bout of Books 10 {my goals}

Hooray! It’s almost time for Bout of Books again.

What is Bout of Books? Here’s a little info from their website:
The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 12th and runs through Sunday, May 18th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 10 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team
 Sounds fun, right?
If you’re a book lover like me it’s awesome.
This will be my 5th time participating in this particular read-a-thon, though I didn’t do so great the last time around. It was right after the holidays, it was early in my pregnancy, I had horrible morning sickness, and on top of that I contracted the H1N1 virus and was incredibly sick. So needless to say, the last round of BOB was a total bust for me and I was super bummed. But I’m feeling great now and I have a ton of time on my hands, so I’m hoping to knock out a couple of books and get ahead with my 2014 reading goal. I need to make as much progress as I can now before the baby comes in August because I figure after that I may not have a whole lot of extra time to devote to reading with a newborn and all. As of right now I’m ahead and I’d like to keep it that way!
So let’s talk goals. Here are mine:
  • Read at least 100 pages per day
  • Finish 3 books
  • Participate in at least 2 Twitter chats
  • Compete in at least 1 challenge/giveaway
  • Comment on other BOB participant’s blogs
I don’t have any specific books I’d like to read this time around. It will just depend on my mood when the time comes. Right now I’m trying to finish up Beautiful Chaos by Kami Garcia (from the Beautiful Creatures series), so I may decide to finish up the series or I might want to move on to something else that sparks my interest. My to-be-read list is always growing and there are a ton of books on there that I haven’t gotten around to yet, so we’ll just have to see what I’m in the mood for when Bout of Books starts up!
So what do you think? Are you thinking of joining Bout of Books? You should. If you love books as much as I do it’s a great excuse to sit on your butt an read a ton. What could be better? And the Twitter chats are a really cool way to meet some new nerdy friends and find some fun new blogs to read. The Twitter chats are probably one of my favorite parts of Bout of Books (besides the reading!) because I’ve made some pretty awesome friends that way. Book lovers make the best tweeters! 🙂 {Hint: you should follow me on Twitter to catch all of my updates!}
