Time is seriously going at warp speed for me right now.
I’m 30 weeks pregnant now, which means I’m 3/4 of the way done baking this baby. In about 66 days it’ll be time for her to come out, and weeks are just whizzing by at this point. I’m basically measuring the weeks by Game of Thrones episodes- every Sunday night I think “Wow, it’s Game of Thrones time again already?” and that means another week has gone by way too quickly. To me it feels like 3 days rather than 7. I don’t know what I’ll do in another 3 weeks when Game of Thrones is over- I guess I’ll have to find another show to track my time!
Here I am at 30 weeks and getting ready to go to my doctor’s appointment.
I’m starting to feel very big. I mean, it’s not just my lower belly sticking out anymore…it’s the whole thing! It must be getting cramped in there for the baby because some days I feel like my lungs are crushed. I have to adjust my posture and sit up really straight or try to stretch out sometimes to get enough room in my chest to take a deep breath. She must love squishing my lungs! I’ve also noticed that when I sit or lay down my right thigh/butt cheek starts to go numb. Oh, and the acid reflux at night is super fun too. I love feeling like my whole dinner is sitting right in the middle of my throat. I’ve been popping Tums like crazy.
So yes, the not-so-fun part is beginning. Is there a “fun part” in pregnancy? I know some women love it. I do…at times. I love feel the baby kick and move around. There are certain parts of pregnancy that are awesome. But I think I might just be a wimp about it. I feel like I’m constantly complaining, groaning, grunting, and taking out my annoyances on everyone around me. I know my kids and husband have noticed my unfriendly disposition lately.
Since I’m not having a baby shower this time around, I figured I better start stocking up on some baby clothes. It’s crazy how much stuff you get at your shower, but I just don’t feel like doing one this time around so I have some shopping to do. I hit up some great online sales at Old Navy and Target and everything is so cute and tiny! This isn’t everything I need, but it’s a good start. It’s going to be August and pretty hot out, so I figure a lot of onesies and little sun dresses are the way to go for the first month or so.
Lily’s cat Muffin has been loving the crib. I have to remember to keep the door to the baby room shut all the way because if I forget and leave it open she will make a beeline for the crib. I’ve caught her in there a few times- once I swear the door was only open for about a minute before I remembered and she was already in there making herself comfortable. This one day I had the door shut, but it didn’t click, so she stood up on her back legs and pushed the door open and snuck inside.
I’ve been busy pinning away some nursery ideas. I’m on the hunt for an old dresser that I can paint up and use as a dresser/changing table combo. I found a ton of cute ideas on Pinterest…now I just need to find the dresser! I’ve been scouring Craigslist and looking for garage sales and hopefully I’ll find something soon. Feel free to send me pins or tag me @MelissaSwenson if you find a cute idea I might like!
